This week sees the last appearance of Coronation Bleat in the Beano, but fear not my faithful few fans (hello you two!)... I've just had my pitch accepted to start work on a new strip for them. Except THIS time i'm going to get a full page all to myself! Thassright... i'm stepping up and breaking out of the fourth panel!
Bit nervous to be honest, but it will be a massive thrill and honour to have a full page strip in Britain's oldest and best known comic. I'll supply more details closer to the the time, but for now, here's a wee taster: The heroine of my strip, Gwyneth
Cheerio!

With the demise of the Dandy, i've been left somewhat homeless professionally speaking. Thankfully that's all now been remedied, and I have a 6 part mini-strip appearing in Britain's oldest (surviving) comic, The BEANO!
It's called Coronation Bleat and is basically just a succession of cheap sheep gags, rather than any attempt to parody the old soap opera itself. So rush out now, buy a copy, and keep this great British institution going! It is literally now the last of its kind...

As some of you may have heard, the Digital Dandy shut up shop last week, meaning Growlph has somewhat now come to an end. But take heart! I have been given permission to let the remaining strips run their course on my own site, and there's another 16 strips you won't have seen also there (if you didn't subscribe to the Digital Dandy, which considering it's closed, i'm assuming you didn't. DAMN YOU.).
So hope on over! It's updating with new strips daily for the next six days, so got get your fix (scroll to the bottom for the latest strips).

Star T.Rex & Growlph

A couple of quick updates, if anyone is still hanging around here. Despite the sad demise of The Dandy (it's typical isn't it? The one horse you hitch your wagon too, and it's the one that gets taken round to the back of the stables and quietly shot.) Growlph lives on in their new Digital incarnation. He's now a regular feature which is a big BIG honour for me, and i'm loving starting to open up his world a bit. Come and join the fun at The Dandy!
Meanwhile, over on my own website, i've started putting up each of the 12 strips that made up Star T.Rex for your daily delectation. So if you missed it the first time round, or just plain missed it since the first time round, here's your chance to catch up: Star T.Rex.
By the way, if you miss my regular dulcet tones, I can be found mostly daily on Twitter rambling away to myself, should you feel so inclined.
Ciao for now!

My continued attempts to infiltrate the professional ranks of better and more deserving cartoonists continues unabated today. Very pleased to announce that my latest strip,'Growlph', is starting this very week in The Dandy! It concerns the exploits of a young boy called Ralph, who is also a Werewolf*. Hence the puntastic name 'Growlph'.
So grab your physical copy now, and a digital copy should be ready and waiting in the iTunes Store in a weeks time. Hope you like it!

Qwertee
Jun. 24th, 2012 | 12:08 am
I probably should've mentioned this before, but I currently have a t-shirt submission up on the excellent Qwertee shop, but am desperately in need of your help and votes to get it accepted and printed for them to sell for ONE DAY ONLY! It's currently on 19 votes, which basically is no where near enough.
So if you have a Qwertee account, and like the idea of sporting a t-shirt featuring diarrhetic vomiting Jelly Babies, then I have just the thing for you!
It's a bit of bastardisation of an illustration I did a couple of weeks ago, which you can see over on my Tumblr account: http://stephenwaller.tumblr.com/#24982017059
Cheers all!

Okay, it's all about to go a bit tits up around here.
Largely thanks to the late Mr. Steve Jobs' fickle attitude towards customer requirements, almost every comic hosted on this site is about to disappear by the month's end. Yes, that's right, I've been using MobileMe (aka Mac.com & iTools) to host everything for the past 11 years. Comics, portfolios, websites, everything. Doofus.
I have now purchased new hosting and started in on the long and laborious process of relinking strips, but there's like 200 of these damn things to do, and Livejournal ain't making it any easier. To at end, I've decided it's time to move with the times, and get a proper site for all my comics. I'm pleased to announce that that's now humming away nicely right here:
Elsewhere Online.
I've been resaving out larger versions of all Elsewhere strips (now 1000px!) and they will all be hosted over there eventually (the Elsewhere link currently links back to here for now). Where does that leave this site? Well, this will still be my blog of choice to write my useless musings as and when they come to me. But the strips will be housed over there. They should be up by the end of the month, so nothing should go missing for any length of time.
ANYway. Thank you for your patience and I hope you like the new site. There's lots on there you might not have seen, particularly the full run of my first Dandy strip 'Saint Evils', a couple of bits of pieces of Star T.Rex and numerous others. See you over there!
Cheers

Corporate Skull & Star T.Rex
Nov. 29th, 2011 | 10:16 am
Just a quick note for a couple of announcements. First up, my guest strip for Jamie Smart's 'Corporate Skull' is now up! You can find it right 加速器免费版
Beyond grateful to Mr. Smart for the opportunity to draw one of my favourite characters of his. It was fun to step into someone else's shoes for a change...
Secondly, i'm incredibly proud to announce that my newest strip is now available in The Dandy! It's called Star T.Rex, and is inevitably, about dinosaurs in space. The Dandy is also available as an app on Apple's App store (too many instances of 'app' there), and i'll be appearing in the digital edition very shortly, so you have less and less reasons not to check it out. :)
Here's the inaugural strip, and I hope you all get to tune in to see more!
Cheerio for now!

Life is Dandy

So yes, you're right. This blog hasn't been very active of recent times. Elsewheres have been few and far between, and I can't promise that situation will change any time soon. To that end, i'm turning this page back into a more general blog of my activities.
And I have not been idle! After my successful run in Britain's longest running comic, The Dandy, earlier this year, it very much pleases me to say I'm back for more very very soon. I'm halfway through drawing another series of mini-strips which concerns Dinosaurs in Space. I shall say no more, but link you to THIS picture for your delectation.
On that note, i've completely failed to promote my brand spanking new Tumblr blog on here. It's pretty much totally image based. If I have anything to say verbally, i'll say it here. But Tumblr is a good place to throw lots of random things like sketches, birthday cards and strip previews. You can see all the stuff that's been keeping me busy.
Beyond that, I'm working on a guest strip for a friend of mine's comic, which i'm very nervous and excited about, and I continue to keep drawing strips in the hopes someone will publish them. And to prove it, here's one that didn't quite make the grade:
Readers with longer term memories might well recognise this gag from an old Elsewhere. Which just goes to show i'm not above bastardising myself. There's a couple more of these, and if nobody wants to print them at some stage, i'll shove the rest of them up here.
Thanks all, see you again soon!

Saint Evils

I'm beyond excited, delighted and proud to announce that I've managed to fulfill my 8 year-old self's fondest dream, and am now a properly professional and financially renumerated cartoonist, appearing for the next 12 weeks in Britain's longest running comic, The Dandy!
It's called Saint Evils, and you can read a little info of what it's about here: http://www.saintevils.com
And here's an example of a strip. This is one of the ones they rejected for being perhaps a little too dark for a younger audience:
Hat tips, multiple thanks and kudos to Mr. Jamie Smart for helping me have this opportunity. He's also responsible for much of the current awesomeness inside The Dandy these days, so SEEK IT OUT!
Cheers all!
